From Polite to Potty Mouth!

On Saturday, I had the joy of leaving the boys at home with Daddy so that Mackenzi and I could run to Target for a few things! I say joy because shopping with just one child feels amazing (when I'm used to trying to shove all three kids in one cart, just kidding). On our way in, we bought the popcorn combo to share--popcorn and a slurpee! Anyways, we passed a very polite family...this is their conversation...verbatim!

Little Girl: Daddy, can I please have those?
Daddy: What would you like sweetie?
Little Girl: Those crackers please?
Daddy: Oh sure, you want the animal crackers?
Little girl: Yes please!
Daddy: Here you go!
Little girl: Thank you so much!

As we pass, Mackenzi is watching the little girl get the box of animal crackers from her Daddy. This is our conversation...

Mackenzi: Mommy, I want crackers too!
Me: Oh honey, you already got popcorn and a red drink...maybe next time...we don't need them today.
Mackenzi: DAMN IT!!!! (rather loud, I might say)
Me: MACKENZI RYANN...We don't say that...that is a bad word! You'll get a spank on your mouth for that!!
Mackenzi: Only Daddy says that...I say, "Ah bummer", just like Kelsea!
Me: That's better (red in the face, slightly amused/slightly embarrassed)

And that, my friends, is how a conversation goes from polite to potty mouth!!

Not much fun!

Our house hasn't been much fun for the last couple of days! Jace started with a cough on Thursday. Luckily, I took him to the doctor's office on Friday morning. She said he had bronchitis. Even though Quinn didn't have any symptoms yet, she wrote him prescriptions too, just to be safe! It's a good thing too because he woke up on Saturday with the same nasty cough that Jace has. I came down with a sinus infection over the weekend as well. Mackenzi woke up with a nasty cough today! Seriously NOT FUN! Basically, in our house there has been a whole lot of this...

On top of it all, last night I woke up feeling like someone was stabbing an ice pick up my nostril piercing the back of my throat. I couldn't fall back asleep for over 2 hours! While I was awake, I got to watch a pretty good storm cell pass through. There was rain, hail, wind, thunder, and lightning! I watched a little bit of "The Duggers" tv show while munching on Cheerios (which always helps me fall back to sleep). I also got to listen to Quinn desperately try to wake up Jace for about 20 minutes. He was standing up, looking into Jace's crib, staring at Jace yelling, "Goo-dee-yaa" over and over and over and over again (you get the picture). Luckily Jace slept right through it. Ahh...the joys of motherhood when the family's sick!!!

I think I need a vacation...If you need me, I'll be here(0kay, maybe only in my dreams...but a girl can dream right?)!

Sidenote: If you're wondering why I'm using super old pictures and pictures off the internet, it's because my fancy camera broke!! :( Last time it broke it cost us $300 and the quote this time is $250. We haven't decided what to do yet! I guess I could use my old school digital for awhile!

Flashback Saturday

Oops! I missed flashback Friday yesterday! Oh well...I thought I'd do it today. I don't want to disappoint anyone (as if anyone really was disappointed). :) Anyways...I now present Flashback Saturday!

My Grammy was famous for taking Dana and me on many fun filled vacations. One of our favorite vacations was when she took us to Palm Springs. Grammy knew how to have a good time! She'd let us put on make-up...mascara and all. We'd get to order Shirley temples and SWIM all day long! Check out Dana...that's so like her to be watching to make sure I am doing the right hand move! I am so thankful that I was blessed with such a fantastic Grammy who LOVED to make special memories with Dana and me!!

OH GOODNESS!

We went to Victoria Gardens to do a little browsing today with Dana, Braeden, and Kelsea! Our first stop was the park, to burn a little energy off! Next, was a little shopping. Dana gave the kids a couple of pennys to make a wish & throw them in the little river. I realized that Mackenzi has never made a wish before, so I thought I'd help her...

Me: Honey, make a wish! That means you wish for something you REALLY want. Okay? So say...I wish...

Kenzi: I wish I have a baby sister! (throws it in the river)

Me: Oh goodness! Here's another penny...make another wish...PLEASE?

Kenzi: I wish I was a mermaid or a sea horse!

Me: Okay, let's go get a pretzel! (quick...change the subject)

Dana: Oh, that makes me want to cry...see! She wants you to have another baby!

Me: YEAH RIGHT! I DON'T THINK SO!!! Not anytime soon...seriously...let's go get a pretzel!

Yeah! I really hope that Mackenzi wakes up tomorrow with a mermaid tail instead of legs...'cause she SURE as heck isn't getting a sister any time soon! GEEZ!

These girls are FANCY!

For Christmas, my mom bought Mackenzi and Kelsea Fancy Nancy dress up clothes. Not only did they get the dress, they got the shoes, hats, purses, glasses, and the boa! She set up a photo shoot with Stephanie from G & M Images. The girls had a great time being fancy little hams in front of the camera! At the end of the shoot, they even got to put REAL lipstick on each other! Here are a few of my favorite shots! Jump on over to my mom's page to see more pictures!

One Fun Weekend!

We had a great weekend! On Saturday, we decided to go to a nearby park in the afternoon. We even took Hurley too. Matt & Hurley played fetch. The boys REALLY enjoyed swinging. Kenzi enjoyed meeting some new friends. Miss social butterfly never has a problem meeting friends. She quickly found a friend to make sandcastles with. Shortly after that family left, another one came. She walked up to the little girl that was about her age and said, "Hi!! I'm Mackenzi, Mackenzi Rogina...wanna play with me?". Seriously, that girl is so outgoing, I know she didn't get that from me! The boys LOVED swinging, we were actually swinging them pretty high. They were so excited. They also went down the slide a few times. Quinn didn't mind it. Jace hated it! We have to do that more often, it was so nice!

On Sunday, we went to the new Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario to see Playhouse Disney Live on Stage! Matt has a few connections, so we all got in for FREE! AHHHH...music to my ears! Mackenzi already saw this show with her grandparents during the summer. She was so excited to go back. Jace, the dancing music lover that he is, LOVED it. He just sat on our laps and actually WATCHED the show. He was "talking" to Mickey and dancing! Quinn, on the other hand, didn't care for it much. He'd rather of stayed home and took a nap! He was SO fussy the whole time! Poor guy! Since we didn't have to pay anything for our fun day, we spent WAY too much money on an overpriced Music Baton from Little Einsteins! Mackenzi LOVED it though!!

Ready for the Results?!?!

This is Jace & Quinn at about 27 weeks. It's a picture of their heads touching...they were cuddling!These are my little men right after they were born!! Their little bunners were so small that they had to wear preemie diapers because newborns diapers were too big! Like I said before, Jace & Quinn had separate placentas and separate amniotic sacs. Most doctors assume that this means that they are fraternal. This is because most identical twins share a sac and/or a placenta. I've heard that fraternal twins can look a lot alike at birth and while newborns, but as they get bigger they start looking different from one another. Not these boys, they just kept looking more and more alike. We decided to do the test and sent it off on January 2nd. It's been a long 14 days! It was so exciting to wait for the results. They finally came in yesterday. After many, many days of running to the mailbox and being disappointed that the envelope wasn't there. Yesterday was my lucky day. I impatiently waited while Matt came home, then we opened it together!

To do the Twin Zygosity testing, they use the collected DNA from cheek swabs to check 15 different DNA STR Markers. Out of the 15 markers, all 15 came out concordant. Which means they are IDENTICAL with a greater than 99% probability. We were so excited to get the news! Out of the many twins that are in my family, (correct me if I'm wrong) I am the first to have identical twins! YEAH!! We're so excited!! Even though these two little buggers look alike, don't let that fool you! They may look alike, but they definitely don't act alike. They have different personalities! We love our (different) identical twins so much!!! Thanks for participating in the poll on my sidebar...it looks like most of you were right!!

A Disturbing Find

SERIOUSLY!! SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

I walked into the toy room to find this today! My first thought was that Matt was playing with the Barbies again!! Kidding. I brought Mackenzi in the room and said, "honey, what are your Barbies doing?" She laughed and said, "They're doing criss-cross Mommy". HUMM....She's never seen anyone doing "criss-cross", so I'm thinking she was just having them innocently cuddle and kiss! Gotta love it!

What a difference 2 years make!

This is Mackenzi and her friend Brooklynn. The first one is from February 2007 and the second one I took yesterday! They are the best of friends. I get to watch Brooklynn (or Brookie as Mackenzi calls her) twice a week. The girls cant wait to see each other and have a lot of fun playing together! I just came across this picture and can't believe how big these two little girls are!! I don't even want to think about how big they'll be in another two years!

Twin Zygosity Update (or lack there of)

Hi Guys! A lot of you have been asking me if there was any word on the boy's test. Thanks for you interest!! :) We're still anxiously awaiting the letter in the mail. Seriously, every day when the mail man comes, I run out there, so excited to see if it was delivered. Not yet!! It said up to 14 days, so I'm thinking (hoping) that it will be this week. By the end of next week FOR SURE! I'll blog about it as soon as we find out!!!

Flashback Friday

If you know me, then you know I LOVE to dance! Seriously, I'm a dancing machine! The only dancing I get to do lately is at home with the kids. But that is okay, that's where I get to let it all hang out and shake what my mama gave me (without thinking, "do I look like a doof?"). This is where the dancing hobby was born. In my bedroom, in front of my mirrored closet doors, busting a move...to NKOTB, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, or MC Hammer, I'm sure. I LOVED this outfit too....too bad it's not a full body shot...I had 3/4 length stretch pants on under that skirt! Gotta love 1988!!!!

From the moment that we found out that I was pregnant with twins, my doctor told me, "They're fraternal. They have their own sac and placenta." When they were born, he said, "Yep, they're fraternal all right!" Since then, I've read many books and articles that say that even though they had their own sac and placenta, they can still be identical. It's definitely a much rarer case, but it is possible. I recently read an article in Twins Magazine that was about doing a Twin Zygosity test to tell if your twins are identical or fraternal. It listed some reasons of why you, as a parent of twins, should care. It also stated that the four main areas to look at are: height, weight, hair color, and eye color. Hum.....my boys were both 5lbs. 2oz. at birth and have stayed within a pound of each other since. Their height is almost the same and their hair and eye color are definitely the same. We decided to order the test and do it. We will soon find out if my little men are fraternal, like the doctors said, or identical. Play along with the poll on the right tool bar. Happy New Year!!!!!

We partied it up at The Ware's house with a pajama party on New Year's Eve! We had a big ol' slumber party (all the kids were asleep by 9pm). We stayed up WAY too late and got up with the kiddos WAY too early (leaving us with only about 2 hours sleep). But, we had such a good time. We ate yummy food, played a little Guitar Hero, played games, laughed, laughed, laughed some more, and hit an adult only pinata! Em even made a yummy breakfast the next morn. We had such a good time. Thanks Dusty and Em for letting us ring in the new year with you guys! It's always a blast!

Big Bear

Rick and Wendy (Matt's Parents) got a cabin in Big Bear for 3 nights after Christmas and invited us to join them and Matt's brothers . Let me just tell you, I am not a big fan of snow. There are a few reasons, all have to do with driving. 1. Sliding 2. Slipping 3. Crashing. That's it, in a nutshell. So, while I LOVE to play in the snow, driving in it makes me wanna have a nervous breakdown. Actually, it makes me want to do a bit more than that...but we wont go there. Other than my foot slamming on the (pretend) break on the passengers side, grabbing the "oh sh#t handles", gasping over and over again while driving, and Matt getting frustrated because of all these actions...we had a BLAST! Mackenzi loved, loved, loved it. She LOVED eating the snow. The boys, I'm sure, would have loved the snow, if they didn't have to wear their snowsuits. They were cranky pretty much the whole time while actually in the snow. Mackenzi went "Boarding" with daddy, made a snowman and a snowpup with Grandpa, and went sledding with grandpa. All, I might say...were pure fun and giggles.She actually stood on the snowboard for about 10 feet without falling.

The kids all slept GREAT (which is unusual while away from home). We were excited that maybe from now on we CAN get a good night's sleep while away from home! The weather was PERFECT (about 50 degrees and sunny). The snow was AMAZING...I don't snowboard, but Matt and his brothers said it was the best snow that they've boarded in for a while. We really had a good time. Mackenzi was so sad to leave.
