Schoolwork = Smiles

This came home in Mackenzi's
folder today.

It made my day.  I'm so proud of her and her love of learning.  She said she wrote the words all by herself by sounding them out.  Now we just have to work on that pesky uppercase/lowercase rule.

Welcome...

I decided to jazz up our plain porch a tiny bit.  I was at the hardware store yesterday buying the boys a ceiling fan (YAY!!) and saw these potted plants on sale.  I loved it because it will match my fall decor that will be making it's appearance in about a month!!  Today at nap-time, I decided to bust out my vinyl and create a welcome sign for my front door too.  It's something that I've been wanting to do since we got our vinyl cutter, but haven't.  I think it looks great!  Now all I need is a generic (non-holiday/season) wreath and I'll be one happy girl!!

9 Random Things That Make Me Happy!!

(Yes, 9 is a random number...but this post contains a whole lot of randomness)
1.  Mackenzi has adjusted well to school.  She cried on Friday because she would miss it over the weekend.  Silly girl.

2.  We are going to start working on our backyard very soon.  I can't wait to have a yard to enjoy and be proud of.  If we can get it done in time, I really want to have a pumpkin party again this year.

3.  I'm feeling our little peanut kick more and more.  Matt even felt it the other day.  It was a fluke, I'm sure.  The position of the babe and the way I was laying made it just right.

4.  We are selling some things on craigslist that we've wanted to get rid of for awhile.  One big thing down, a few more to go....

5.  A friend of mine let me borrow some maternity clothes (I sold most of mine at a yard sale a couple years ago because I thought we were done having babies).  Maternity pants feel like heaven on my belly!!  Thanks Melissa!!

6. My mom, sister, sister's mother-in-law, and I went to see The*Help on Saturday, followed by lunch.  It was nice to hang out with them without the kids.

7.  The boys start preschool in just over two weeks.  I think they're going to love it.

8.  Once the boys start preschool, I am going to be able to help out in Mackenzi's classroom a couple times a month.  I really miss being in the classroom and I'm really looking forward to it.

9.  Jace's silly faces that he makes constantly.  This guy loves to make people laugh.

Baby Update: 12 Weeks

I am now 12 weeks along.  I can't believe I'm just about out of my 1st trimester.  I can't wait to find out what this little sweet baby will be.  My tummy is growing and growing (as you can see).  I feel pretty good.  Luckily, I haven't battled any morning sickness at all.  I only get nauseous if I need to eat.  At worst, I feel shaky, weak, and out of breath (the Dr. said I need to eat more frequently).  My pants are starting to get tight to button.  They cut my bump in half which makes me look like I have a pretty sweet muffin top instead of a round baby bump!!
I went to the doctor's office this morning and he did another ultrasound.  The baby looked great.  It was a great shot right as he started the scan, but by the time he zoomed to see the heartbeat that little stinker turned it's back to us.  The picture that I got isn't even worth posting...it's of the back of it's head and back.  Oh well.  I was happy to see that it was healthy and I got to see a glimpse of it before it turned over!!  I've only gained 2 lbs. since the beginning of the pregnancy.  I'm sure that wont last long once I get into my 2nd trimester!!!
Here is a side-by-side of how much my belly has grown in a month!  Wow, huh??

First Day Fun!!

Over the weekend, Mackenzi and I worked on a little present for her new teacher.
Inside the card she wrote her teacher a note and drew a picture of herself holding her new teacher's hand.
We packaged it up and put it by her backpack for the first day of school.
Last night, before she went to bed, we read our new book from Boppa and Nana, The Night Before Kindergarten.  She was giddy with excitement and told us she wasn't going to be able to sleep because she was too excited!!  This morning she was ready to rock!!!
She picked out her favorite new outfit and told me just how she wanted her hair.
Daddy worked from home today so that he could be there to drop her off and pick her up from school.
Mommy didn't even cry this morning (or last night).  Just a bit of watery eyes as I was saying goodbye!
She was very proud of herself because she woke up remembering her teacher's name.
She sat down at her table and got right to work.  She was so excited to start Kindergarten!!  She can't wait to go back tomorrow!!!
After we picked her up from school, Daddy told her she could choose wherever she wanted to go for lunch.  She chose In-N-Out (that's my girl).  She has her first homework project due in two weeks (a beautiful book box).  Mommy was the one with homework tonight, one hour worth of forms/papers to fill out and sign.
Welcome to Kindergarten big girl!!!

Long Lost Pals

We had so much fun with the Glitheros on Monday night.  We invited some of our other friends to come to dinner to and catch up.  The dads had fun playing ball in the yard and sippin' on some ice-cold beers.  The kids had fun running around and playing.  The moms had fun sitting and catching up.  Jace & Quinn loved Ryan and Kody.  They taught them how to race, played baseball and basketball, and watched movies together.
The minute the girls layed eyes on each other, it was like the two years away never existed.  They yelled out each other's name, hugged, and ran upstairs to play.  They played and played and played.  They had a slumber party together upstairs and stayed up way too late.  They got up way too early too, then it was back to playing.  Here are some silly pictures from their bath time playtime.

Ryan and Denay: Thanks for taking the time on your trip and spending the night at our house!  We loved seeing you guys and catching up!!  Hopefully our next visit wont be two years away!!!

Looking Forward to Tonight!

A Little over two years ago, our good friends moved to Indiana.  Mackenzi and Brooklynn were best friends.  They are in California visiting family and friends...and tonight, they are staying the night with us!  Mackenzi is so excited to see her friend again, although she doesn't actually remember her too well.  I'm sure they'll hit it off like old times!!  Here are a few pictures from the last time we saw them.  They had spent the weekend with us in June 2009.

My goodness...so little!!
We're so excited to see our friends!!
