A Lazy Leprechaun Saturday

We are having a VERY lazy day today. It's kind of nice since it is SO stormy out. Rain, hail, thunder, lightning...we've seen it all today. We've also seen Cars (the movie), Wii games, Uncle Trevy & Uncle Cody, Starbucks, puzzles, blocks, and LEPRECHAUNS! They've arrived just in time for March to begin!
If you were wondering what our hand prints (From my last post) were going to turn into (thanks for responding Amy) you don't have to wait any longer. They're not turkeys, they're LEPRECHAUNS! I used to do this with my first graders for a year long hand print calendar (as a Christmas gift to their parents). It turns out much better with older kids who will hold their fingers exactly the way you want them too. But, I think my little leprechauns turned out cute enough. They are perched atop my mantle.
What's a post without pictures of my children??
Speaking of a lazy Saturday. Are my boys identical or what? This is how I found them during nap time today. I guess they haven't quite mastered the concept of sleeping ON the bed. Silly boys!

Let the fun begin...

It's really sad. Before we were blessed with two baby boys, I used to let Mackenzi do all sorts of crafts. Painting, coloring, play dough, she did it all. Now, I rarely let her do these kinds of activities because it just turns into a headache with two 2 year old boys. They like to color on the floor, walls, table, and their shirt. It's SO hard to do it...especially by myself. This morning I was feeling a bit guilty for not letting them have an opportunity to do these types of things. So I decided to bust out some paint, painting shirts, and paint brushes and let them go to town. They were happy, to say the least...especially Mackenzi---my craft diva! The boys actually did a great job with the paint.Until Jace tried to taste it. Luckily, he didn't like the taste. Silly boy.I even snuck in handprints for my next little project. Can you guess what I'm making with these

Flashback Friday

Today is one of my favorite girl's 30th birthday! I have known Crystal since 7th grade. We instantly became friends. Time and distance hasn't ruined our friendship. She is an amazingly beautiful person, inside and out. I am so lucky to call her my friend!!(2000)

Just Boys Being Boys

The boys have really been enjoying playing with their birthday presents lately. They got lots of trucks, which they love. Yesterday afternoon, they had a blast getting down and dirty in the sand. They played with their shovels, rakes and new dump trucks. They were so dirty I had to change their clothes and shoes... They didn't care though. They were just happy to be outside!

Road Trip

In May Matt and I will be taking the kids on a trip to Northern California. Matt has a big meeting in Sacramento so we are using this as an excuse to take our first big family vacation since the boys have been born. We are going to drive up there fast, spend one day in Sacramento, visit San Francisco, then spend four or five days heading down the coast. I've been looking online at places that are hot spots for families with small children. So far, I think I want to hit the Bay Area Discovery Museum. We're also thinking of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I was wondering if anybody can help me out. If you have taken small children (3 and under) to any place that you would recommend in Northern and Central California, let me know. We're starting to plan and I would really like any recommendations you may have. Thanks guys!!

A Note From Mackenzi

Dear Friends and Family,
It's me, Mackenzi. My preschool is having a fundraiser where we are selling See's Candy. All the proceeds will go to help buy new toys and supplies for our classroom next year. Next year I will be in the Pre-Kindergarten program. I will be going three days a week.
Do you want to buy anything from me???There are lots of yummy things for sale. Lollipops, boxes of chocolates, Bordeaux (Mommy's favorite). See for yourself. What's that?? You don't know if you want to buy any?? Okay, that's okay...Oh wait you will??? Perfect. Just email my mommy and let her know.
Her email is lacirogina(at)verizon(dot)net.
The order is due on March 4th!! YIPPPEEEEE!!!Thank you so much,

Watching Airplanes

We were invited to have lunch with a few families from school and watch airplanes today by a small local airport. There were 4 moms and 9 kids. I knew the kids would like it, even though they'd be ready for a nap and probably fussy. So we went. It was pretty awesome. We saw two big helicopters and a handful of small planes taking off and landing. The kids were in awe.
They were waving and waving at this plane who was waiting for his turn to take off and flyIt was definitely worth the fussy attitudes and pushed back nap time. I can't wait to go back when Daddy can come with us.

A Gift...

Each day comes bearing it's own gifts. Untie the ribbons.
-Ruth Ann Schubacker

Mackenzi was able to enjoy her first rainbow today.

She loved every minute of it, as did I.

The Twins Turn Two

Last Friday my favorite boys in the whole wide world turned two! Since their birthday fell on a Friday they got to celebrate Friday & Saturday!! Lucky, lucky boys!! They woke up bright and early on their birthday to see their presents. A TRAIN TABLE! They couldn't have been happier or busier!! They've been playing with it non-stop (which makes Mommy happy too).We met Matt's family for lunch. Grandpa and Grandma wanted to take them to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate. They had more fun putting the tokens in the machines and stealing tickets than actually playing the games. However this spider stomper game was a big hit. After doing the (NO) rain dance for days, we lucked out to get a birthday party with NO RAIN! YAY!!! Saturday, our family and some friends came over to celebrate the twins' birthday. The theme was race cars. There was a big race at the Fontana AAA Speedway that day too, so we could even hear the real race cars all day long. The house was decked out with racing flags, cones, and race car decorations.I spent many (many) hours making cupcakes, chocolate covered pretzels, star rice crispy treats, and two race car cakes. The cakes were very time consuming but I wanted them each to have their own cake and candles to blow out!The kids had a blast playing with their friends, jumping in the jumper and playing with balloons (the boys L.O.V.E. balloons).

It's incredible that these two boys are already two. I love them so much!! Thanks to all our friends and family who joined us and celebrated with us. They received lots of wonderful gifts (they'll be the BEST dressed boys ever) and we truly appreciate it!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jace & Quinn

It has been two years since we first laid our eyes on these little boys. It's amazing how quickly time passes. With each day Jace & Quinn grow bigger, stronger, smarter, and cuter. With each day, their relationship grows too. They are each other's best friend. They love to play together, cuddle together, be mischevious together, and simply be together. If one of them is asleep, the other one wants him awake. If one is sad, it makes the other sad. I hope that as they grow older, they will always share this closeness. As they grow older, our love for them grows too. When we first found out we were having twins, we were overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with many feelings: happiness, fear, love, to name a few. We were overjoyed, but would we be able to handle it? Well, day by day we handle it. Some days are stressful, some days aren't. I think we have handled our life with twins very well. I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel blessed to be the mother of twins. It's an amazing thing to watch them interact together, play together, love each other. I'm thrilled to be the mommy to two handsome, healthy boys. Happy to be able to stay home with them: to teach them, love them, guide them. They are such silly boys. They are starting to figure out that they should show signs of the 'terrible twos'...and they have. They are testing their boundaries, their independence, my patience. They're doing what two year olds do. I keep telling myself that this "terrible two's' stage will pass...although I don't want to rush time...I can't wait for this stage to pass.

Here's what J & Q are up to lately:
Jace: 27.5 lbs. 33 inches tall
Quinn: 26.5 lbs. 33 inches tall

-both boys are still using both hands but Jace is showing a left hand dominance & Quinn is showing right hand dominance.
-they are starting to name colors (Jace is awesome (and ususally correct) at blue & yellow. Quinn knows when stop lights turn green. He also knows blue & pink).
-both J & Q can run, jump, stomp, climb, and do somersaults.
-they still LOVE their blankets
-they are sleeping in their big boy toddler beds. They're still adjusting to it, but so far it's not as hard as I thought it would be.
-they LOVE Disney's Cars, race cars, and trains
-they are able to use forks and spoons at meal times
-they take one nap a day, usually around noon for about two hours.
- their favorite thing to do is watch Cars. They would watch it nonstop if we let them.
-they love to play with their friends, their cousins, and visit with family
-they like singing songs. "Elmo's Song" and "Up On the House Top" are their favorites, although they dig Taylor Swift & Lady Antebellum too

Happy Birthday Jace & Quinn!!!

We love you both so very much!!!

Another Disneyland Trip

Last Thursday we were invited to spend the afternoon at Disneyland with my sister's family and my mom. The kids had so much fun hanging with their cousins. We arrived later than we thought so we didn't get to do much. I was able to purchase a pass for Mackenzi. We made it on a few rides and had dinner. We rode Autopia for the first time. Kenzi and Quinn were crazy about it! By then it was time to go home. The kids were SO tired by the time we had to leave that I had to create a make-shift triple stroller (I only brought my double). Jace was in the front, Kenzi in the back, and Quinn was in the back basket. He didn't mind, as long as he had his blankie.
