I thought I'd let you all in on some recent happenings around our house...I hate to do this, but there are no pictures...so sorry!!
I am proud to say that Mackenzi can now swim in the pool without any floaties on! YAY! She still hasn't quite got it mastered, but she is able to keep her head above water and get where she needs to go. Sometimes she gets stuck in one spot and treads water instead of swimming, which makes her panic. Mommy or Daddy is always right next to her to make sure to help her when she needs it! I'm so proud of her. I'm sure by the end of summer (and lots of swimming at Nana & Boppa's, Grandpa & Grandma's, and Uncle Kevy and Auntie Dana's houses she will have it down and be swimming like a champ!!
Jace and Quinn are loving the pool too. They both get all around with floaties on their arms. This summer they have switched roles. Quinn is cautious and Jace is the crazy man. Jace will jump in the pool from the side (or rocks at Grandpa's house) while yelling "
CANNONBALL" or "
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND". Quinn prefers to swim next to someone (usually Mommy). They love to "
kick, kick, kick".

Whatever was making Quinn's face rashy before (possibly peanut butter?) isn't making it rashy anymore. After cutting peanut butter out of his diet for a few months, I introduced it to him again and he has had no allergic reactions. I'm so happy, because although I do love to make a gourmet lunch for the kids (HA! RIGHT) PB&J is SOOOO much easier!! Quinn LOVES it too!! He has eaten it MULTIPLE times without any reaction at all. He has had reactions to sunscreen this summer. I have to use Neutrogena Baby or Aveeno Baby sunscreen on his skin. Hopefully that will only be temporary too (spray is so much faster to apply).

The kids are FINALLY all 100% better from their ear infections and Hand, Foot, and Mouth last week. That darn Hand, Foot and Mouth did leave one lingering side effect though. Mr. Quinn, Mr. I have my thumb in my mouth 24/7, doesn't suck his thumb anymore. Jace went right back to sucking his thumb as soon as his mouth sores got better (a few days). Quinn, however, still hasn't even put his thumb back into his mouth. When I tell him to (just to see what he would do) he tells me, "No, OWWIEES in mouth". Whatever, dude!! I'm torn on this one. 95% of me is happy. Now I don't have to break this habit later. He seems genuinely happier. He plays more, now that he isn't holding that blue seebie (blankie) and sucking his thumb non-stop!! But that 5% of me is so sad. Thumb sucking seems so baby-like (I know they're not babies anymore...almost 2 1/2). It just is another milestone as they grow bigger and bigger!! Jace really only sucks his thumb when he's tired, so It doesn't really hinder his play like it did Quinn.

The school district around our house is getting ready to go back to school in a few weeks, but not Mackenzi. She still has a full month of summer vacation left. We have some fun things planned, including a trip to Disneyland and some days in Balboa Beach with Matt's family. There are still lots of barbecues planned and visits from family members!! I really love summer. I've gotten used to being lazy in the morning, not "getting ready" to go anywhere but play dates and errands. It'll be hard to get back into the swing of school drop off and dance drop off but I'll be ready. With the thought of "back to school", I'm itching to put up my fall decorations. That will have to wait until September though, we still have LOTS of summer left!!
I couldn't resist. What's a blog post without a picture?!?
